Oscar winning costume designers Lizzy Gardiner and Tim Chappel have added another feather to their cap with a Drama Desk Award for their Priscilla Queen of the Desert costumes.

The Aussie design duo won for the costumes featured in the Priscilla musical on Broadway.

It’s their second award this year for the costumes, after the pair won a 2011 Outer Critics Circle Award. They’ve also been nominated for best costume design of a musical at the upcoming Tony Awards.

Gardiner and Chappel won a best costume Oscar in 1995 for the wardrobe they created for The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert film.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical, which is produced by Bette Midler, has been playing at Broadway’s Palace Theatre since March 20.

The biggest winners were the profane show The Book of Mormon and the Cole Porter romp Anything Goes, with five awards apiece.

The Drama Desk, an organisation of theatre journalists and critics, called The Book of Mormon the season’s best musical and gave it awards for best lyrics, music, director and orchestrations
