On Wednesday night, comedians Judy Gold, Sherri Shepherd and Nikki Blonsky helped Bette Midler celebrate the 10th annual Spring Picnic for her Restoration Project at Gracie Mansion in New York. The fundraiser helped MilliontreesNYC, an initiative to plant and care for one million new trees throughout New York City.
“Trees are like good friends. They stand by us, they’re helpful friends, quiet friends. And who doesn’t love a friend that doesn’t talk back?” said Midler during a speech. Keeping in theme with the evening, when later asked where she’d most like to plant a tree, comedian Gold cracked: “Oh, God. My ultimate spot to plant a tree? I don’t know – my apartment?”
