BetteBack 1974: Bette Midler To Record Single With Paul Simon

Mister D: And we all know how well that went! The song was “Gone At Last” and Mr. Rhymin’ Simon cut Bette’s vocal out and replaced it with the also fabulous Phoebe Snow. Bette didn’t find out until she heard the song on the radio. Ouch!

Singing stars Bette Midler and Paul Simon are planning to make some beautiful music together. The pair are cutting a single at Atlantic Records studio in New York and if it’s a success they may do an album together.

    1. At the time, of course, Bette took it as a slap in the face, but they began to rekindle their friendship later on. Just recently they worked together at a benefit….he even was one of Bette’s special musical guests at a recent Hulaween event….
