With solid vocal skills and personality to burn Vanessa probably shouldn’t be offended by Simon’s critique that she’s more of an entertainer than an American Idol. Simon’s assessment is both complimentary and correct. There are worse things than being Bette Midler and Vanessa should be so lucky.
