Don’t know if anyone knows yet. iTunes has made a “iTunes Essentials” for Bette Midler, It’s a compilation of 70 bestselling Bette songs on iTunes divided into The Basics, Next Steps, and Deep Cuts. And no I don’t work for them..(=
I checked out the listing iTunes have and I have to admit that they did their homework on this one. A very nice collection that does cover her entire career and not just focusing on “Wind Beneath My Wings & From A Distance.”
It’s rare to see a Bette compilation with tracks from “Divine Madness, Thighs & Whispers & Broken Blossom” amongst others, and it’s great to see that they have taken tracks from EVERY album.
It would have been nice to see some of the remixes such as “To Deserve You” & that song about shoes which is always a favorite of mine. Also good to see that they have a few snippets from “Mud Will Be Flung Tonight!” on there, one of Bette’s best that always seems to be forgotten about. It would be great to see this as a commercial release with a little tweaking up here and there and some unreleased tracks also. Maybe this is a taste of something sweeter to come.
