Eddie Murphy and Bette Midler have joined forces to produce a comedy based on the real-life story of a New Jersey housewife who discovered the Shirelles.
The project is set to be produced by Murphy’s production company at Paramount Pictures. According to Daily Variety, the hot group EnVogue is the odds-on favorite to play the Shirelles. Negotiations are reported to be underway with EnVogue to get them to play the parts.
Midler is set to star as the housewife-turned-record label president Florence Greenberg. The Shirelles hits include Dedicated To The One I Love, Soldier Boy and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.
No director or writer has been set for the project.
