Bette Midler On That Old Feeling:

Bette Midler On That Old Feeling: “People want to make fun of people with money. Lily, the woman I play, is a movie star. These people are pretty rich. It’s fun to find the foibles of rich people. They are among the more ridiculous because they have things but still are just like everyone else.” (Herald-Journal, Apr 8, 1997)

Bette Midler On That Old Feeling:

Bette Midler On That Old Feeling: “I’ve got bills to pay and a family to feed, after all, and making movies is nothing to touring. I mean, this woman before you has been frazzled, at times. But who;s complaining? Work is work, but making this movie with Carl Reiner is like bustin’ free a little. Carl goes for the big laughs.” (Herald-Journal, Apr 8, 1997)

Bette Midler On That Old Feeling:

Bette Midler On That Old Feeling: “This movie fulfills my desire to do something broad. I like characters who are way over the top. She doesn’t hold anything back, And it’s nice to be back in high heels, too. This woman wears some nice threads. It’s the type movie I think is right for me to do right now.” (Herald-Journal, Apr 8, 1997)

San Fran Examiner

SOMEWHERE BETWEEN the Divine Miss M and Norma Desmond lies Lilly, the haughty and naughty actress played with exuberance by Bette Midler in “That Old Feeling.”

For the last 14 years, she’s been married to Alan (David Rasche), the marriage counselor who failed to patch up her unraveling 12-year union to Dan (Dennis Farina), a successful novelist, who has since written a book in which an actress is stabbed 27 times.
Dan, too, is remarried, stolen away, according to Lilly, by Rowena (Gail O’Grady), a surgically improved interior decorator. Dan and Lilly’s daughter, Molly (Paula Marshall), is understandably reluctant to invite both of her explosive parents to her wedding to the arrow-straight Republican congressional candidate Keith (Jamie Denton). NEW YORK — On Mulberry Street in Little Italy, romance was in the air. Or something like it. As the cameras prepared to roll. Bette Midler stood at attention in front of Angelo’s restaurant, closed her eyes and struggled to attain deep concentration.

A split second before an assistant called out “action,” Dennis Farina, her co-star, reached over and pinched the Divine One’s rear end, eliciting a startled laugh. As the couple walked on, he kept- at it. causing Ms. Midler to hop her way down the sidewalk, slapping at the offending hand. Read More
