On For The Boys: “Well, I did sing and dance again. That was a real thrill for me because we worked with the most wonderful arrangers on this music … and we did the tracks over at Capitol Records where Frank Sinatra used to record. So everybody from Capitol came down and so did people from our group. You couldn’t get a seat at those sessions, and not a dry eye in the house. I slayed ’em – if I do say so myself.” (The Washington Post, 1991) – Bette Midler Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling, closeup and outdoor

Midler on playing characters: “Those kinds of characters that are larger than life — driven, overbearing — those kinds of characters don’t come along very often.

Midler on playing characters: “Those kinds of characters that are larger than life — driven, overbearing — those kinds of characters don’t come along very often. Even in the theater. And since good parts are at a premium, I’m no fool — I want to play as many of them as I possibly can. Every actress who calls herself an actress wants in her heart to play Lady Macbeth. And every musical-comedy person wants to play Mama Rose.” (1993, Hartford Courant) Image may contain: 1 person, outdoor

Put a Spell On You: ‘Hocus Pocus’ Came Out More Than 20 Years Ago & Yes, the Cast Has Completely Grown Up

j14 Put a Spell On You: ‘Hocus Pocus’ Came Out More Than 20 Years Ago & Yes, the Cast Has Completely Grown Up By Jennifer Maldonado 8-16-2017 It’s still summer but the fall will be here soon enough and with that time of year comes Halloween. What better way to celebrate than by watching a classic Halloween movie, like the one and only Hocus Pocus? Yes, we’re talking about the movie that focuses on the Sanderson Sister witches being resurrected on Halloween by Max Dennsion after he lights a black flame candle, and then it’s up to him, his little sister Dani, his crush Allison and a talking cat the witches cursed named Binx to save all the children of Salem. It plays every single year on every channel basically because it is that legendary. Hocus Pocus Sisters C’mon, you’re going to tell me you don’t sing along when Bette Midler, Winnie Sanderson herself belts out “I Put a Spell On You?” We ALL do and there’s nothing wrong with that! Since the movie lives on every year, reaching a new generation each Halloween season and there are even new costumes you can buy to dress up like these iconic sister witches, you kind of tend to forget that this movie was actually released in 1993. As in 24 years ago. And it came out on July 16 during the summer. Interesting. Oh, and it was directed by none other than Kenny Ortega, the man who directed all the High School Musical and Descendants movies? SO MANY LAYERS OF AMAZINGNESS. And yes, all of the young stars in the cast have of course grown up and changed a lot since their appearance in this movie. So let’s take a look, shall we?

Dani Dennsion was played by Thora Birch.

Dani Hocus Pocus Dani was the fearless little sister with all the sass who simply just wanted to spend some time with her brother. She never thought they would spend Halloween together trying to avoid having their souls sucked out of them by witches! But she of course captured all of our hearts, especially when it came to those scenes between her and Max and the beloved Binx. So what about the actress, Thora, now? Thora Birch Now Well, Thora is 35 years old and she’s still acting too. She’s starred in other classic movies like Now and Then and American Beauty and currently has a role on the USA series, Colony. Plus, she had a black cat that looks very similar to Binx, which she named “Panther Dani.”

Bette Midler accidentally sets off gender war with just 5 words

Starts At 60 Bette Midler accidentally sets off gender war with just 5 words June 5, 2017 18485975_1304474759648974_1958112386560918112_n Bette Midler was tweeting her despair over London’s latest terror attack when she accidentally set off a gender war. The star wrote: “More sorrow and grief at the hands of madmen in London. Men and religion are worthless.” While she very likely meant ‘men of religion’, that was not how many men took it, with plenty replying to set her straight on the value of men. =&0=& @BetteMidler

More sorrow and grief at the hands of madmen in London. Men and religion are worthless.

@BetteMidler Cheers for that. You can remove me as a (useless) male fan then. Women ALSO commit atrocities too you know. Google Myra Hindley & Rose West

@BetteMidler What a stupid thing to say. Men were saving people last night. Shame on you for writing something so flippant.

@BetteMidler Does that include us veterans?

    Marie McWhorter @irish_ivy_1987

@exjon @BetteMidler It shouldn’t include every man or every religion. That’s a broad generalization that actually upsets me a lot. I love the men in my life. ...  Read More
