Bye-bye, Bette
by Jon Bream
“I have a history with Minneapolis,” Bette Midler said Sunday at Target Center. “We either start [her tour] here or we end here.” Indeed, Sunday at Target Center, she ended her Kiss My Brass Tour in Minneapolis with pretty much the same show she gave near the beginning of her tour last December in St. Paul.
She added a few new jokes such as the postelection comment, “I love to be in the big blue state in the red Midwest.”
Midler ended the concert with the sing-along song, “The Rose.”Oh, you’re pathetic,” she scolded the nearly 8,000 fans after the first verse. “Video guy, can you put up the lyrics? I know they read. They’re the most literate city in America.”
Then, suddenly, without any karaoke lyrics, the locals proved they could sing, too.
