THE Divine Miss M, it seems, doesn’t mind our wines. We hear Bette Midler, who performed at the Entertainment Centre on Tuesday, enjoyed a private tour and tasting at Penfolds Magill Estate the previous morning.

Company spokeswoman Nicola McConnell says Bette spent a few hours at the estate. “She bought some wines to take home, including Penfolds Cellar Reserve Pinot Noir and Penfolds Cellar Reserve Grenache,” Nicola says.

“Apparently, she’s a fan of Penfolds Grandfather Port as well.”

Bette also mentioned onstage she had paid a visit to the Barossa, although stumbling on the name, “Barbarossa, I mean Barossa”.

She and her entourage of 16 dropped in for lunch at Vintners Bar and Grill Restaurant, Angaston, on Monday afternoon, before enjoying a tasting at Rockford Winery, Tanunda.

Vintners manager Anne-Marie Mitchell says the group arrived in a mini-bus – and heartily enjoyed the fare.

“I can’t believe at Bette’s age, she looks so superb in jeans and T-shirt,” she says.

Cafe Michael 2 manager, Tamrah Petruzzelli, also got to meet the diva while enjoying a glass at the Hyatt’s Atrium Lounge on Sunday night.

Tamrah ended up befriending Bette’s entourage and took them out to the cafe she manages and Amalfi Pizzeria Ristorante on Monday night.
