Bruce Vilanch weighs in
‘Help is on the Way Goes to the Movies’ on Sunday
by Adam Sandel
Vilanch initially came to show biz prominence as a ghost writer to comics, and like Barry Manilow, Melissa Manchester, Katie Sagal and many others, his career began while working with Bette Midler.
“Bette was the first person I ever wrote for, and I’ve been working with her for 37 years now.” He’s currently collaborating with Midler on her Las Vegas show, which moves into Caesar’s Palace next February once Cirque du Celine finally un-pitches its tent.
I hope Vilanch offers all new material to The Divine One. I heard some old jokes on “Kiss My Brass”.
Marcos: Now don’t be so negative. Sometimes people like hearing some old familiar stuff. Bette will have to update material almost everyday as the news changes so I really wouldn’t worry about it.
Love, Mister D
Mr. D! How U B? It’s been ages since I’ve talked to you. Reason I write, I do not have an “official” article to share here, but Eric Kornfeld (who worked on Kiss My Brass) is writing madly for Bette too. I can’t divulge the details, but can assure you the jokes are new and HILARIOUSLY funny. So there!
Hope you’re well, darling. Will try to shoot an e-mail to you soon.
XOX,
–Deb
Thank you so much Deb. I had tried to contact Eric with no replies. I did get with him after your post and we will fix that probably later today. My intuition told me he would be involved.
And long time no hear, girlfriend!!!
