This is one of my favorite pieces of Bette Midler. It’s a classic. The funny, yet poignant monologue which seamlessly flows into probably John Prine’s most famous song, “Hello In There” Sorry about the tracking; it’s a little off.
If I had to show one clip to show the genius of Bette Midler, it would be this funny, poignant monologue that seams effortlessly into John Prine’s most popular song, Hello In There, who Bette put on the map. His career is still going strong today. And Bette said this song on her debut album remains her favorite performance.
