The Royal Variety Performance, which was held at Blackpool’s Opera House on December 7th, has been hailed as a global success by media worldwide.

International artists, including Lady Gaga, Bette Midler and Anastacia, lined up to perform for the Queen in a special show which was hosted by northern comedian Peter Kay.

Blackpool hotels were no doubt busy as people from all over the country flocked to attend the star-studded event.

It was the 81st Royal Variety Performance and the first to be held in the seaside resort since 1955 when the likes of Morecambe and Wise and George Formby graced the stage.

Publications such as the New York Times, Washington Post and Grazia Magazine have been talking about Blackpool since the spectacular show.

The Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund (EABF), which benefits from the money raised by the event, was complimentary about the venue.

Peter Elliot, charity director for the EABF, told the Blackpool Gazette that it was very happy with the performance: “We were delighted with how the show was received by the audience, everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.”
