In 1979, Mark Rydell directed Bette Midler in her first feature film, “The Rose”. The film would be nominated for four Academy Awards, including a Best Actress nom for Ms. Midler for her portrayal of the character that loosely resembled Janis Joplin.
In 2009, Ron Megee directs Spencer Brown in the live stage adaptation of the film featuring an incredible live band, the high-energy rock score from the film, and an ensemble of some of Kansas City’s finest talents.
