NEW YORK (CBS4) ― The stars were walking the red carpet Monday evening in New York City to promote and raise funding for Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project.

The seventh-annual “Flower Power” picnic raised a million dollars for community gardens, park development and open space in New York City.

Besides Midler, CBS Evening News Anchor Katie Couric walked the red carpet and even took the stage to sing a few numbers with the “Divine Miss M.” Couric held her own in grand style, too!

Couric and Midler sang “Aquarius” from “Hair” and were warmly received by the audience.

Midler’s New York Restoration Project carries out her dream of a cleaner, more beautiful New York. It revitalizes, restores and develops parks, community gardens and open space in the Big Apple.

Tony Bennett, Bradley Whitford, Kristin Chenoweth, James Snyder and others from the entertainment industry also walked the red carpet.
