Actor Tony Sheldon has notched up his 1500th performance as a drag queen in the hit musical Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert.
The Helpmann Award winner has played the lead role of Bernadette from the show’s opening season in Sydney in 2006 to its current run on Broadway.
The Brisbane star of stage said he and Priscilla have plenty more gas in the tank following sell-out stints in the West End, Canada and New Zealand.
“It feels like yesterday that I started with this show,” Sheldon said.
“It feels every bit as joyous and exciting and I am still so thrilled to be part of this project so hopefully there will be a sixteen hundredth and a seventeen hundredth and onwards and onward.”
Priscilla, Queen of the Desert has won a clutch of awards, including a Laurence Olivier Award, a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award, prompting its Bette Midler-produced Broadway debut this year.
