Dolly Parton has decided it’s time to do her first TV special. She tells me, “I held off all these years because I wanted it to be real special, and now I’m talking to the networks to see who’ll come up with the best deal – and plan to have the show on the air early next year.” She’ll write the special herself, she says, and she’s also penning a big-screen project as a starring vehicle for herself and Bette Midler.
