And rumor has it Disney Studios/Touchstone Pictures has optioned Kirkwood’s play “Legends” which toured the countryside co-starring Mary Martin and Carol Channing, and his book about the show’s development, “Diary of a Mad Playwright” (published last fall).
The rumor continues that Bette Midler is interested in bringing the show, or a combination of the show and book, to the big screen.
My guess is she’d be cast in the Mary Martin role, the witchier of the two has been screen characters in the show.
