2013 Golden Globe Predictions: Best Comedy/Musical Actress
Dec 2, 2012
Indiewire will provide regular updates of our predictions for the Golden Globe Award nominations through December 13th, when the nominations are announced.
Here’s our take on the best motion actress comedy/musical category, which looks to be Jennifer Lawrence vs. the legends as a quartet of some of incredible talent (all of them over 60!) are in the running here in Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, Barbara Streisand and Maggie Smith. Combined, those four women have won OVER TWENTY-FIVE Golden Globes. But they could all very well lose to Lawrence this time around…
Best actress in a comedy/musical predictions below:
1. Jennifer Lawrence, Silver Linings Playbook
2. Meryl Streep, Hope Springs
3. Judi Dench, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
4. Barbra Streisand, The Guilt Trip
5. Maggie Smith, Quartet
6. Laura Linney, Hyde Park on Hudson
7. Leslie Mann, This is 40
8. Anna Kendrick, Pitch Perfect
9. Melanie Lynskey, Hello I Must Be Going
10. Bette Midler, Parental Guidance
Can she be nominated before the movie even comes out? xx
Yeah…since it has been screened a couple of times,,,
10th place! Miss M won’t be nominated. My God, what competition: Streep, Dench, Streisand and Smith!! I respect and enjoy all of those ladies. I feel so sorry for Judy, who is going blind… I wonder (SPOILER ALERT – DON’T READ IF YOU ARE GOING TO SEE OO7’S SKYFALL!) if that’s why they killed her M in the 007 film.
You never know with Hollywood…they can surprise you good or bad….
Well, with only five spots for this category, I think Indiewire pretty much nailed it. However, the New York Film Critics just announced yesterday that Matt McConaughey was the Best Supporting Actor of the Year, and Rachel Weisz, the Best Actress! Those votes really came out of nowhere….beating out expected favorites like Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, Christoph Waltz and Tommy Lee Jones.
Mister D, I definitely agree….I think until we see Bette’s performance, we won’t no where in the Top Ten she may land. She’s always a strong, believable performer, that emotes with conviction, and has the momentum of a Christmas release behind her. The Globes adore Bette, as well as the others in the Top 5. Yes, Hollywood can be full of surprises.
Yeah, I was really surprised the the New York’s winners…they did come out of left field. I also think Bette still has a good chance of being in the Top 5…The Globes may like the tension of a 3 way race with Bette, Meryl, and Babs! xx
