E n te rta in e r BETTE MIDLER, accepting the Jack Oakie Comedy Award from the ,200-member Women in Film industry group in Los Angeles, took up the theme of fighting for the rights of women in the entertainment industry.
Among the more sedate comments of “The Divine Miss M” on Friday was a quotation from feminist Gloria Steinem: “A man can be called ruthless if he bombs a country to oblivion. A woman can be called ruthless if she puts you on hold.”
