Bette Midler, Katy Perry & Others React To Hillary Clinton Slaying Donald Trump At The Debate
Robbie Daw @chartrigger | September 27, 2016 – 12:39 pm
Hillary Clinton dangled a lot of bait in front of Donald Trump when the two presidential hopefuls squared off during last night’s televised debate at Hofstra University, and Trump chomped down almost every time. A key moment came when Trump was asked about prior remarks pertaining to his view that Clinton doesn’t “look presidential,†which prompted him to say he was referring to Clinton’s “stamina.â€

Bette Midler, “The Divine Miss M.,” returns to the Bay Area this week. The first truly big star of the ’70s who describes herself as “the last of the truly tacky women,” will sing Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Berkeley Community Theater at 8 p.m. each night.
Bette Midler became a star the best way possible. She did it as no one had done it before. In an era of superstar overflow, where every branch of every medium has its celebrities, even hamburger stands, Bette Midler exercised real class. She was the one who did take-offs on the Shangri-La’s, one of the 1960’s silliest female groups. They sang “Leader of the Pack.”

Aaron Russo On Bette Midler And The Right Script: “I waited six years for a movie for Bette. The scripts I read and discarded either lacked quality or weren’t important enough for her. I wanted a role only Bette Midler could play. In other words, if she couldn’t make the picture, the project would have to be abandoned.” (The Evening News, January 19, 1976)

Bette Midler On Aaron Russo: “Many people think our relationship is unhealthy. As a matter of fact, most of them do. But Aaron thinks I’m the greatest and he did when nobody else did. I can quarrel with Aaron’s methods. I fight with him all the time. But some of our work has been very good work. We play pretty terrible games, but it’s a good relationship.†(March 1979)

Leonardo DiCaprio Almost Starred In ‘Hocus Pocus’ And Other Frightening Facts About The Film
BY: ALYSSA FIKSE
If you ask any child of the ’90s what their favorite Halloween film is, there is a good chance that Hocus Pocus is somewhere in their top five. Disney’s spooky comedy was a bit of a flop when it was released in 1993, but thanks to home video/DVDs and annual showings on ABC Family and the Disney Channel, it has become a cult classic.
When Max Dennison, Halloween skeptic and virgin extraordinaire, moves to Salem with his family, he lights the Black Flame Candle (to impress a girl, natch) and accidentally summons the Sanderson sisters (Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker), three witches from ye olde Salem who want to suck the souls out of Salem’s children, including Max’s little sister, Dani.  With the help of Binx, the immortal boy-cat, Max has to stop Winifred and her sisters before it’s too late (dun dun duuuuun).

13 Things You Didn’t Know About Hocus Pocus
November 12, 2014 – 9:29pm
In a Reddit AMA, Bette Midler said she’s interested in doing a Hocus Pocus sequel. “You have to go to send in your cards to the Walt Disney company,” she said. “The ball’s in their court.” While you get those cards ready, here are some facts about the original.
1. The story came about after writer David Kirschner invented a bedtime story for his kids. He later wrote the story up and submitted it to Muppet Magazine (why does this not still exist?), where it gained recognition.
