Bette Midler Joins Yoko Ono And Others For Special Show….

Yoko Ono, Thurston and Kim, Eric Clapton, Bette Midler: Together at Last!

Avant-garde legend Yoko Ono doesn’t play too many shows anymore. But when she does take the stage, it’s a big deal. Right now, Ono’s Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band only has a couple of dates booked, but those dates are no joke.

On February 16, the Plastic Ono Band will play a huge show at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House. Ono will share the stage with a whole battalion of fellow musicians, including regular collaborators like Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, Cornelius, producer Mark Ronson, ex-Cibo Matto member Yuka Honda, and son Sean Lennon.

But the bill also includes some gigantically popular old-school entertainer types: Bette Midler, Eric Clapton, and Paul Simon. (Well, she was married to a Beatle.) You’re not likely to see Thurston Moore and Bette Midler share a stage again anytime soon, folks. That’s the poster above.

A slightly less WTF form of the Plastic Ono Band will also play Oakland’s Fox Theater as part of San Francisco’s Noise Pop festival on February 23. Cornelius, Yuka Honda, and Sean Lennon will once again back up Ono. Deerhoof will open.

  1. I looked up the tickets and they are only 85.00 for all these wonderful people! I think I am going to try to go. I adore Yoko Ono, Eric Clapton, Scissor Sisters and Paul Simon. I was just trying to get ticktes to see Eric Clapton the other day but the cheapest one were like $200.00. Maybe I will just go to this instead! Thanks for posting it. : )

  2. I’m going too Julya! Just bought the tickets. This is so cool, Bette for under a hundred bucks! I am so excited. lol : ) Thanks again Don.
