Musical `Mame‘ Is Next for Midler

Bette Midler will bring another Broadway musical classic to the small screen. On the heels of her triumphant television “Gypsy,” Midler will star in a new production of “Mame” for CBS. Jerry Herman is busily reworking and updating his original musical in time for Midler & Co. to go before the cameras in January.
What happened to this project? O was it just a PR puff that was never going to happen?
Something just happened along the way i guess….
Which is too bad! Bette would have been a wonderful Mame.
Yeah, now i hear Tilda Swinton’s got the part!
