RUMORS FLY IN LAS VEGAS

THE AMERICAN Guild of Variety Artists will present its annual awards here on Jan. 26. Winners include Redd Foxx, male comedy award; Sonny & Cher, best vocal act; Roberta Flack, female singer; Sammy Davis Jr., male singer and entertainer of the year; Bette Midler, rising star o[ the year, and Carol Burnett, female comedy star.
Ironically, AGVA is live stage performers. Ms. Burnett has not appeared in a club for over a year, yet she won the award.’ What happened to Totie Fields, Joan Rivers or Phyllis Diller for the prize?
