Two of the most honored women in Golden Globes history might be competing as Best Film Comedy/Musical Actress this year. Eight-time champ Meryl Streep (“Hope Springs”) and nine-time winner Barbra Streisand (“The Guilt Trip”) could be facing off for the trophy.

Other past winners in the mix this time include Emily Blunt (“The Five Year Engagement”), Judi Dench (“The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel“), Laura Linney (“Hyde Park on Hudson”), Bette Midler (“Parental Guidance”), Julia Roberts (“Mirror, Mirror”), Maggie Smith (“Quartet”), and Michelle Williams (“Take This Waltz”).

Previous Globe nominees on the ballot are Penelope Cruz (“To Rome with Love“), Anna Kendrick (“Pitch Perfect”), Jennifer Lawrence (“Silver Linings Playbook”), Ellen Page (“To Rome with Love”), and Kristen Wiig (“Imogene”).

The possible rookies include Elizabeth Banks (“The Details”), Jessica Biel (“Playing for Keeps”), Julianne Hough (“Rock of Ages”), Rashida Jones (“Celeste and Jesse Forever”), Melanie Lynskey (“Hello, I Must Be Going”), Leslie Mann (“This is 40”), Elizabeth Olsen (“Liberal Arts”), Emma Watson (“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”), Jennifer Westfeldt (“Friends with Kids”), and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (“Smashed”).

  1. Streep has 8 Golden Globes and Streisand has 9! Impressive!! It would be wonderful if The Divine One got a Globe this year. It could boost her film career. Someone like Harvey Weinstein would be instrumental in promoting her for awards.
