Stars are remembering famed British singer Joe Cocker, who died on Monday at 70. The Grammy and Oscar-winning musician died of lung cancer after a decades-long career in music.
Cockerâ€™s cover performance of â€œWith A Little Help From My Friendsâ€ was an iconic moment at Woodstock, and his rendition of the Beatlesâ€™ song later served as the theme for â€œThe Wonder Years.â€ He later won a Grammy and an Oscar for Best Original Song for â€œUp Where We Belong,â€ his duet with Jennifer Warnes, which was recorded for the Richard Gere-Debra Winger film An Officer and a Gentleman soundtrack. Cocker was also named one of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time by Rolling Stone in 1998.
Now fellow musicians, celebrities, and media personalities are taking to social media to pay tribute Cocker, making â€œRIP Joeâ€ a trending topic on Twitter. Steven Tyler wrote, â€œWE LOVED YOU FOREVER, WE WILL MISS YOU ALWAYSâ€¦RIP JOE COCKER.â€ Evan Rachel Wood added, â€œSong of the day â€˜With a little help from my friendsâ€™ #joecocker.â€ Meanwhile, Scott Foley tweeted, â€œSo many memories tied to the music of Joe Cocker.
