The Hollywood Women’s Press Club awarded Golden Apple awards for female star of the year to Jodie Foster on Sunday, while Kevin Costner and Robin Williams tied for male star of the year.

The awards were handed out at the organization’s 51st annual luncheon in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Lynn Whitfleld, who played the title role in The Josephine Baker Story, received a Golden Apple for female discovery of the year, while Luke Perry, of televiIsion’s Beverly Hills 90210, was honored as the male discovery of the year.

The Sour Apple award, presented by Zsa Zsa Gabor, was divided among Alec Baldwin, Kim Basingcr and Sin

The Louella O. Parsons Award, given to the person who pest personifies a positive image of Hollywood to the i world, went to Sophia Foster Loren. Crystal Apple awards for lifetime achievement were given to James Stewart and Maureen O’Hara.

The winners were chosen through balloting by members of the Hollywood Press Club.

The nominees for best female star included Demi Moore, Bette Midler, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfelffer.

Nominees for male star of the year included Arnold Schwarzenegger, Burt Reynolds and Billy Crystal.
