It was several months ago that WJCL reported a movie starring Julianne Moore and Bette Midler was set to start filming in the Savannah area.

According to Moore’s Instagram account, production has begun

The movie is called ‘The Glorias: A Life on the Road’ and is based on Gloria Steinem’s best-selling memoir. It is set for release in 2020.

The Glorias: A Life on the Road is an upcoming biographical film directed by Julie Taymor.

Production

It was announced in October 2018 that a biopic of the activist Gloria Steinem was in production, with Julie Taymor directing along with co-writing the screenplay. Four actresses will be playing Steinem at various points in her life, with Alicia Vikander cast to play her from ages 20-40, and Julianne Moore playing her beyond 40.^[1] Bette Midler was cast later that month.^[2] Lulu Wilson was cast in November.^[3] In December, Janelle Monáe was cast to play Dorothy Pitman Hughes.^[4]

Filming began in January 2019 in Savannah, Georgia.^[5
