Video: Bette Midler Appears On “Neil Sedaka Steppin’ Out” (September 17, 2012)

Neil Sedaka Steppin’ Out.

Beaming, plump Neil Sedaka, a songwriter with a heavy beat that kids dig, lands a musical hour that’s not bad at all, if you happen to be crazy about such Sedaka hits as “Happy Birthday. Sweet Sixteen,” “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do.” and “Solitaire.”

Sedaka has a big time singing his own songs, and he’s neatly backed up by guests Bette Midler and David Brenner. The noisy Miss Midler wades through a lengthy barroom number, then joins Neil for “Love Will Keep Us Together.”

Comic Brenner is amusing with his recollections on dating and getting along with girls.

  1. “Strangers In The Night”, sung slow, as a ballad, just beautiful. I will add that to my “I wish Bette would record” list. Thanks Don!!
