BetteBack December 11, 1976: Lotte Lenya Offers To Coach Bette For “Seven Deadly Sins”

Colorado Springs Gazette

Not only is Bette Midler going to debut with the New York City Ballet as Annie in George Balancbine’s revival of “Seven Deadly Sins,” but Lotte Lenya, who originated the role some 40 years ago, called to offer her assistance. And you had better believe Bette jumped at the chance to be “coached” by the legendary Miss Lenya.

The ballet, with music and script by Bertold Brecht and Kurt Weill, will’ run a week.

And one of the Divine Miss M‘s other projects is a real old-fashioned film being written for her that is a tear jerker about a New York autograph seeker.
