BetteBack 1975: Gays Chortle At A Tasteless Vulgarian (Oh My! My! My!)

H.L. Mencken‘s “No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public” seemed suitably topical again as Bette Midler‘s revue proved she’s not just a campy comic but a vulgar practitioner of the dregs of showbiz; detailing all her witless filth would be futile.

And why do homosexual audiences howl delighted raunchy chortles at La Midler, eclept La Bottomler … Certainly such a hysterically humorless reaction does little for seriously image-worried Gays.
