On the air, “60 Minutes” correspondent Diane Sawyer is all business.

But her secret fantasy is to be a backup singer for Bette Midler. No joke.

“I’D LOVE to be one of the Harlettes,” mused Sawyer, 39, in a recent interview. (She had two big solos in “One Knight’s Stand.” the 1965 Wellesley College Junior Show.)

“That’s my idea of heaven She’s so funny, so outrageously smart. She’s everybody’s hidden side of being uninhibitcdly vulgar.”

On another fantasy note, Sawyer listed her ideal all-time roundtable for which she would serve as moderator: Jesus, the French statesman Talleyrand, Alexander the Great, Michelangelo, Socrates, Gary Grant, Marlon Brando and the Divine Miss M.

The topic? “Open.”
