BETTE MIDLER – IT’S THE GIRLS: The divine miss M pays tribute to classic girl groups

IF there has ever been a voice which can be relied on to belt out a tune ”“ it’s the Divine Miss M.
The album is a glorious tribute to girl groups through the ages.
From the Andrews Sisters (Bei Mir Bist Du Schon) and The Boswell Sisters (It’s The Girl) through to the Chiffons (One Fine Day) and TLC (Waterfalls), the sassy songstress belts them out in her own unique way.
“A long time ago I fell in love with voices in harmony,” said Midler. “In particular, the sound of female voices singng together. This record is a small attempt to honour them all for the joy they brought to me and the world.
The album release co-incides with Miss Midler’s first tour of the UK in 35 years.
“I have always loved visiting and working in the UK,” she said. “It will be a thrill to finally do a proper UK tour and be back performing here.”
For me Midler is the whole package. She’s funny, feisty, vivacious and bubbly ”“ and boy she can hold a note! This album is everything I thought it would be. Simply divine.
