Bette Midler, the new singing sensation, will star in her first television special during the 1973-74 season.

Miss Midler, whose approach to popular music has been called a mixture of the And r e w s Sisters and Charlie Chaplin, blends her varied talents into a posture of high camp. This remarkable performer will be joined by several top guest stars in her musical special.

Miss Midler began her show business career singing in small clubs around New York. steadily gathering a loyal and growing group of fans.

When her first album, “ The Divine Miss M,” was released, it skyrocketed to the top of the charts. When the single, ” Do You Wanna Dance,” followed immediately behind it, the singer came to the attention of the entire country.

In the past year, she has traveled across the country giving standing-room-only concerts to rave reviews. Her shows usually include musical oldies like ” Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and the 1950’s hit, “Chapel of Love.” Her new album, “ Bette Midler,” is soon to be released.

Miss Midler appeared in “Fiddler on the Roof” on Broadway for three years in the role of Tzeitel. Her only prime time television appearance was in last season’s ABC Television Network special,”Burt Bacharach: Opus No. 3.”
