Don Henley‘s Walden Wood Project, an environmental group struggling to preserve author Henry David Thoreau‘s famed Walden Pond area, has won the rights to purchase a portion of the land.
The 18.6-mile parcel will be accessible to the public.
Henley plans to stage a benefit concert for Walden Woods. A target date of early September has been set, with no acts yet announced.
However, musicians Jimmy Buffett, Bonnie Raitt, Bette Midler and Bob Seger are all members of the Walden Wood board.
