It isn’t often that apartments in the exclusive co-op at 1125 Fifth Avenue come to market, and it’s even less often that the apartment directly below Better Midler’s becomes available. But through a divine series of events, just that has happened.

The building’s grand 14th floor spread listed this morning for $20 million, putting the five-bedroom, five-bathroom house on display for the first time in who knows how long. (Public records on when the apartment last sold, and to whom, are nowhere to be found—alas!)

But here’s what we do know: the co-op comes with 50 feet of frontage along Central Park, with great room windows framing views of the Eldorado, the Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, the George Washington Bridge, and beyond. The great room also comes with a wood-burning fireplace.

The prewar apartment has a private elevator vestibule that opens onto a gallery. A corner dining room also has frontage along Central Park and is nearly as large as the great room. (That makes up for the tiny prewar galley kitchen.)

A long hallway leads to the apartment’s wood-paneled library and five bedrooms, including a master suite with a wood-burning fireplace, master bathroom, and two dressing rooms.
