CHICAGO, H – Oprah Winfrey wears a hidden camera to capture people’s re actions when they see her in public on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” airing today.
Other celebrities, including Naomi Campbell, Vanessa Williams, “NYPD Blue‘s” Jimmy Smits, KJD. Lang, Goldie Hawn and Bette Midler will share a behind the scenes look into what they do, from Campbell’s play-byplay throughout her first-ever lingerie fashion show to Williams preparing to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl.
Oprah, with a hidden camera, records the reactions that she often gets when people see her in public places. In Chicago, she renews her drivers license at the Department of Motor Vehicles and in Miami’s South Beach, with her chef, Rosie Daley, goes grocery shopping,
to a mall and a restaurant, capturing many hilarious comments and double takes on video.
Oprah explains that people regularly feel free to offer their most personal comments upon meeting her.
“I’ve always said the only difference between being a famous person and not, is that everywhere you go, people know you,” Oprah says.
“People come up to me as if they’ve known me all their lives…They come from all over the world and we talk about everything!”
Hawn and Midler, two favorite comedic actresses, are on location in New York City where they are shooting the movie, “The First Wives Club.” The stars give an insider look into what goes into the making of their film.
Other stars give peeks into their backstage worlds, including Golden Globe winner Jimmy Smits who gives a tour of the rarely seen set of his ABC drama, “NYPD Blue” and Grammy award winning singer K.D. Lang who allows a crew, for the first time ever, to follow her backstage before a concert.
Campbell, preparing for her first lingerie fashion show for Victoria’s Secret, takes the viewers through all that she is experiencing, from her chauffeured arrival through her wardrobe fittings, hair and makeup.
Viewers even eavesdrop on Campbell’s insider gossip with other models and professionals in the industry.
Williams, preparing to sing the national anthem at the 1996 Super Bowl, shares her entire backstage experience with viewers, from her nervous preparation in the dressing room all the way through her visible relief after the performance.
Other featured stars include: Jonathan Silverman of NBC’s hit series, “The Single Guy” who gives a behind the scenes tour of the lot where his and other hits are taped; John Stamos on the set of his Broadway show, “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying“; and Suzanne Somers, starring in the ABC show, “Step By Step”.
