A: lt has not always been easy for Bette Midler, 51, to find the right theatrical fit for her over-the-top brand of talent ForÂ every â€œFirst Wives Clubâ€ there have been clunkers like her most recent film, â€œThat Old Feeling.â€
The Divine Miss M currently is developing several big-screen projects, including one based on the Iris Rainer Dart novel â€œShowÂ Business Kills,â€ another about the 1960s singing group The Shirelles, and a third on Texas Guinan, the lusty character who ran speakeasies in the Roaring â€™20s.
She also is planning a TV sitcom called â€œThe Harlettes,â€ in which she will play the leader of a singing group. But her next project will be film version of the 1965-71 TV sitcom â€œGreen Acres,â€ with Bette in the Eva Gabor role.
