List-Mania: Glenda Jackson & Lots of Triple-Crown Acting Trivia
Tuesday, June 12, 20
By Nathaniel R.
Since I’m on record as being annoyed that all anyone cares about is the EGOT it’s time to celebrate our preferred obsession: The Triple Crown of Acting. That’s when a performer manages the Emmy, Oscar, and Tony for acting. To date only 24* actors have accomplished this, with Glenda Jackson being the most recent recipient as of this past Sunday night at the Tony Awards. Triple Crowns have become much more commonplace in the 21st century since actors move much more fluidly through the three mediums than they did in before the turn of the century. TV has totally lost its stigma for movie stars and Broadway is more welcome to very short runs freeing major stars up to continue with their movie and TV careers without as much scheduling trauma. A TRUCKLOAD OF TRIVIA AFTER THE JUMP…

Mister D: Well I thought for sure, Bette would show up for the Tony’s this year as a presenter. I didn’t even question it until today. I just saw lists of presenters on different websites, but none listed her except one, and I had never heard of the damn website.
So I decided to write Bette’s Team. It had been awhile since I annoyed them, so I thought the time was ripe for a question. Since they mostly only answer in single words (Yay, Nay, May(be)) I worded my question as to be precise: Is Bette Midler going to be a presenter or do something in some capacity at the Tony’s this year? The answer: Nope!

The Oscar for best original song is a garbage category
By Dan Zak
March 2 at 1:42 PM
CLOCKWISE FROM TOP LEFT: Phil Collins grasps his Oscar in 2000; Robin Williams performs “Blame Canada” the same year; Mariah Carey, left, and Whitney Houston perform “When You Believe” in 1999; and, from left, Peter Allen, Christopher Cross, Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager claim their shared prize in 1982. It was nearly five minutes of theatrical fog, odd lunges and wide-eyed emoting, and Collins had to watch the slow-motion oddity from his seat. The academy wanted a “variety” of entertainers to perform the nominees for best original song, so it didn’t enlist the English rocker, then at the peak of his career.

The annual Artios Awards (named for the Greek word meaning “perfectly fitted”) are given to Casting Society of America members using the criteria of originality, creativity and contribution of casting to the overall quality of a project. CAA’s Kevin Huvane, filmmaker Barry Levinson and casting director Victoria Thomas also were honored at the event.
The awards were handed out in simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York, with Tig Notaro hosting at the Beverly Hilton and Bridget Everett serving as host at New York’s Stage 48.

Outlook THE NEWS SCROLL 11 JANUARY 2018 Last Updated at 4:08 PM Four H`wood celebrities who powered through awards-show play-off music
Los Angeles [U.S.A], January 11 : “Lower the music, it’s taken 25 years. Give me a minute,” said Guillermo Del Toro, after winning his first ever Golden Globe for Best Director at this year’s star-studded ceremony.
He totally admonished the orchestra for trying to cut short his acceptance speech. But, if you thought that he was the only celebrity to power through the awards-show play-off music, then you are wrong.
Here are four Hollywood stars, who ‘shut’ the music which was ruining a fairytale moment in their career:

Celebrating singer & actress Bette Midler
By: Nizar Ahmed Fri, Dec. 1, 2017
CAIRO – 1 December 2017: December 1 is the birthday of the enchanting singer and actress Bette Midler, whose Grammy-award winning music has sold nearly 30 million copies worldwide, while her film roles have earned her Oscar nominations.
Born in Hawaii on 1945, Midler grew up poor alongside three other siblings, and found joy in the nature around her. Midler studied drama at the University of Hawaii, and got her very first start in movies as an extra on 1965’s “Hawaii”. Soon after, she moved to New York City to get her start in show business, with her earliest stints being a singer at a nightclub. She also had a role on Broadway’s popular “Fiddler on the Roof”.
