It’s not clear which accomplishment composer Marc Shaiman is more famous for: winning the 2003 Tony Award for Original Musical Score in Hairspray or planting a big, wet one on his partner and Hairspray lyricist Scott Wittman while accepting it on national television. But with five Oscar nominations, two Emmy nominations (one of which he won), and two Grammy nominations, it is clear that Shaiman has an impressive range of musical talent.
