Have A Safe And Happy New Year

Just wanted to wish everyone a fabulous Happy New Year. Please be safe tonight!

As for the rest of the year, I wish you love, peace, and good health. Let’s ring out all the negative energy of this year, and ring in all that’s good.

There ‘s new music up in the BLB Jukebox and BLB Records…all Bette again for your enjoyment.

I also put up a couple of new polls as well!

As far as the Peggy Lee Songbook, it is, in general, getting rave reviews, but thanks to Sony’s big screw up, her CD, among others, was hurt by some negative publicity due to the copy protection flaws.

That’s all fixed now, so start or keep buying as gifts.

She’s still on the charts at number 177, but we need to get her up higher and at least get her a golden platter.

Congrats to Bette in the year end issue of Billboard Magazine….she made 2 charts:

  • The Top 25 Boxscores Chart: She came in at number 24 for her box office take for her performances at the Sydney Superdome.
  • The Top 25 Tours Chart: She came in at number 22 for the Australian leg of her tour.
  • There’s some KMB alumni news:

Don’t forget to set your VCR or TIVO for Bruce Vilanch’s debut on Celebrity Fit Club 3 which debuts on VH1 tomorrow, Sunday, January 1, 2005. Myabe this will inspire all of us to stick to or motivate us to go on our diets! Anyway, good luck Mister V!!!

Director Richard Jay-Alexander has had a stellar year…just one hit after another…his work with Amy Irving in “Safe Harbor for Elizabeth Bishop” (opens off-Broadway March 2006), executive producing, along with Jay Landers, Bernadette Peter’s “Sondheim Etc.: Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall,” directing cabaret shows with Debbie Boone, Andrea McArdle, Lea Salonga’s Carnegie Hall debut, his stellar work, along with Jay Landers, again, on Striesand’s DVD collection of TV specials, and his direction of Bernadette Peter’s upcoming national tour. Plus he helped put together many charity events this year, including Bette’s spring gala and Hulaween! Let’s hear it for the boy!

Eric Kornfeld, Bette’s comedy writer for the last several years is about to embark on an international tour with The Hoff…or as he is known here…David Hasselhoff! This should be very fun, different, and challenging for Mr. Kornfeld. First stop, Australia!

And let’s not forget Ms. Toni Basil: She has been working with Karen Black on a show that she conceived for Ms. Black entitled, A View of the Heart. (Black delivers a collection of glimpses into the lives of American women, from a poor black Mississippi Delta woman to a would-be wealthy divorcee to a mother who has lost her son, lending her distinctly personal singing style to music from Rodgers & Hart, Bessie Smith, David Bowie, Kris Kristofferson and others.) I believe this one woman show has already played, but you never know…it could have more life to it yet. So keep an eye out for this.

Anyway, that’s about it….have to get ready for a little party. Be safe, Be Happy, and Have Fun!

    Love, Mister D
