Mister D: This event has come and gone. The interest here for some of you is that Bette’s New Leaf Cafe was part of the challenge, unbeknownst to them! Bottoms Up!
The low-down:
The setup is simple. We devised eight categories of outdoor imbibing–beer gardens, rooftops, margaritas and more–and chose three bars for each category. Each week through Labor Day, we’ll provide a challenge. After you’ve found our queries, go out on the town and make merry–and find the answers. When you’ve acquired the info, submit your findings online (or send a postcard to Time Out New York Summer Drinking Game, 475 Tenth Avenue, 12th Floor, New York, NY 10018). You’ll automatically be entered in the drawing for that week’s award: $150 worth of cocktails at one of the category’s three bars. And though there are three establishments listed in each category, you only need visit one of them in a given week to be eligible.
Bonus: Hardcore tipplers will no doubt be primed to vie for the Grand Prize. Arm yourself with a camera (a properly equipped cellphone will do) and follow the instructions of the bonus task, which will be explained in the magazine alongside the other category questions. You’ll be asked to snap a photo of some specific site or activity in a bar, and then email the evidence to game@timeoutny.com. At the end of the 8-week game, one lucky lush will be chosen from the entrants who completed the most tasks. The winner will be headed to the Sun Village Resort & Spa in Cofresi Beach, Dominican Republic, and the Dominican International Film Festival, which runs November 6”“11.
