One Of Bette’s Idols Makes It Into Next Year’s Rock n’ Roll Hall Of Fame – Ms. Laura Nyro

Mister D: If you’ll remember back when Bette did an interview with Katie Couric promoting her Peggy Lee CD she said if she had to do another Songbook type CD it would have to be Laura Nyro‘s work….and what a perfect fit. Later on Bette sang this song I have posted here at Carnegie Hall, written and recorded by Laura, to celebrate the woderful musical history of the venue…..hope you enjoy!

Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Announced Inductees
12.7.2011
BY ADAM RATHE

Bronx-born singer Laura Niro, who died in 1997, is just one of the influential musicians who will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this spring, it was announced Wednesday.

Niro, who might be best remembered for the track “Emmie,” will be honored alongside The Beastie Boys, Guns N’ Roses and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. She might be the only one of those musicians, however, who later in life entered into a lesbian relationship (after, of course, dating Jackson Browne.)

Who didn’t make it into the oddly finicky Hall of Fame this time around? Nominees who were not granted the final go-ahead include Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and The Cure.
