PRISCILLA ‘I WILL SURVIVE’ Australian Reality Talent Show to End with Broadway; Auditions Begin in April
Thursday, April 12, 2012
Australia media giant Fremantle Media will be presenting a new reality, “I Will Survive”, show offering Broadway hopefuls the chance to train with the PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT company at the Palace Theatre. The reality series will be broadcast on Network Ten.
Beginning with open auditions, the most talented performers will be selected to come aboard the famous Priscilla bus and retrace the steps of the box-office movie from Sydney to Alice Springs, performing at each outback location on the way.
Along the journey, judges, mentors and industry professionals will challenge, train and critique each of the performers. The field will be slowly whittled down to a final four in Alice Springs, who will then journey to New York City to receive training as “Tick”, originated on Broadway by Will Swenson. (Note, the winning reality contender will not be replacing Swenson in the role, as no contestant will be replacing any Broadway actor).
Auditions take place in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne in April. For more information on the audition process and to secure a spot at the open call, visit www.iwillsurvivetv.com.
Adapted from the Academy Award® winning film, and following productions in Australia, London and Toronto, Priscilla opened at The Palace Theatre on March 20, 2011, and has played more than 500 performances.
The Broadway show stars Will Swenson (Hair), original Australian star and 2011 Tony Award® nominee Tony Sheldon and Nick Adams (La Cage Aux Folles) as the trio of friends who hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship in the middle of the Australian outback and end up finding more than they could ever have dreamed.
