Mister D: This is my favorite version of this anthem. It was sung at Mayor Mike Bloomberg”s 2002 mayoral inaugural, and the arrangement Bette and her piano play Bette Sussman was just perfect. It was sung soon after the Twin Towers fell and Bette sang it with a dash of melancholy, even more, pronounced when the background singers chimed in, but the hope that we so desperately wanted being supplied by Bette’s signature smile. This version seemed to be the most appropriate for these times. I’m sure it would have been much darker if updated. So I’m glad we have this for our tired, battered, old country, now. May she rise up again.
Thank you, Bette! (and Bette!)
This was so important to me. Not sure if your remember, but 4 July is my birthday. This year was a real incredible blast. My daughter won a HUGE roll of firecrackers. To be exact 16,290. We unrolled them down she and her husbands driveway. It took 4min and 3sec for them all to go off.
That’s awesome Judy! Belated Happy Birthday. And glad you loved the video as much as me
