First Wives Club Sequel Back On Track?

Two years after Bette Midler admitted her disappointment that a sequel to The First Wives Club was never made, one is finally in the works!

Starring Bette, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton, the 1996 film was a surprise box-office hit, developing a cult following.

While the trio were set to reunite for comedy The Family Jewels, Bette, 78, revealed in July that the project was stuck in “development hell”.

“As soon as Bette said that, it was an open invitation for other studios to pick up on the availability of these incredible actresses,” an insider reveals. “Now there’s an actual sequel in the works – hopefully for its 30th anniversary [in 2026].”
