He’s A Rebel (with Darlene Love & Bette Midler & Paul Shaffer and the Hall of Fame Orchestra) [Live] on The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame: In Concert 2010 & 2011

He’s A Rebel

See the way he walks down the street
Watch the way he shuffles his feet
My, he holds his head up high
When he goes walking by, he's my guy

When he holds my hand, I'm so proud
'Cause he's not just one of the crowd
My baby's always the one to try
the things they've never done
And just because of that, they say

He's a rebel and he'll never ever be any good
He's a rebel 'cause he never ever does what he should
But just because he doesn't do what everybody else does
That's no reason why I can't give him all my love

He's always good to me, always treats me tenderly
'Cause he's not a rebel, oh, no, no, no
He's not a rebel, oh, no, no, no, to me

If they don't like him that way
They won't like me after today
I'll be standing right by his side when they say
Share A little Divinity

  1. I apologize for this being off-topic, but I wanted to comment on something I ran across yesterday.

Kristin Chenoweth, who I admire as a talented singer and Broadway actress, just released a CD titled “For the Girls” a few days ago. It’s a tribute to female singers, and includes songs like “I’m a Woman”, “You Don’t Own Me”, and “Will You Love Me Tomorrow”, along with duets with singers like Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt. Hmmm. Am I having a deja vu, heard this song before, moment? I’m almost speechless with this head-scratcher. How should I respond? Oh, my.

  2. Not quite. I have Ms Chenoweth’s album in my iTunes library, and going by the track listings, the album is definitely meant as tribute to songs made famous from her fellow female singers.

I think you may getting this confused with Bette’s 2014 album “It’s the Girls.” However not only is the title different, but Ms Midler’s album effort was meant to tribute songs made famous from female groups.

    1. We know that. It’s just that the concepts are pretty close and so is the title of the album. Nothing against her, because I really like her but unfortunately most Bette fans are going to see that and do a double-take.
