I love Bette and I love Melissa but Loraine Ellison had this out 45 years ago and her version is the definitive rendition . I only mention this because Melissa refers to it as Bette’s song.
I was at this show actually where Melissa performed this. I was speechless when she sang this rendition of Stay With Me and while it’s great that it’s posted here in audio bootleg, to hear Melissa belt this out live was simply out of this world. This is a performer that must be seen live to be fully appreciated, she has the most powerful voice I have ever heard.
JESUS CHRIST! This sure is a great triibute to Bette. I love Melissa and her interpretation of this song is truely amazing. Melissa is a Bettehead, wohooo!!!! LOL!
Well, once a song, a book, a movie or any other piece or artistic or creative work is out there in the world, it’s just like a child, nobody really OWNS it (hey, I’m not talking about copyrights, okay? LOL)Bette has been known for giving her very unique interpretation of already well known songs that have been interpretated by others. And, no word of a lie, I think it’s really hard to create something new from a piece of work that is already attached to this or that artist. And Bette has done it many times, so well, that people remeber her version more frequently than others.
There is no ULTIMATE version for anything. This song is Bette’s, Melissa’s, Loraine’s and anybody else’s who is truely capable of feeling the lyrics they are singing and move people with their voices. Melissa gave me the chills, man…I hope Bette has seen it. 🙂
