Bette Midler isn’t mincing words when it comes to a couple of female artists being overlooked by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The “Divine” singer-actress tweets that Cher’s exclusion is “utter – -.”
Midler isn’t the only fan to find fault with Cher’s exclusion. In a 2018 poll conducted by Gold Derby on which female artist has been mostly overlooked, Cher received 33 percent of that vote. And Cleveland’s Plain Dealer notes that Cher has outsold such Rock Hall inductees as Genesis, James Taylor, and The Beach Boys.
In a later message, Bette goes to bat for another diva: “Wait. It gets worse. Tina Turner is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist. W–.”
