Today In History: Bette Midler Guests On The Cher Special



On this day in history, Bette Midler guests on the Cher special (pilot episode of her variety show), along with Elton John and Flip Wilson.

Bette performed in 2 medleys plus an old folks home comedy skit. The first medley was a comical performance with Cher known as Trashy Ladies where they sang about notorious women in song. Some of the songs included were “Lulu’s Back In Town”, “Sweet Georgia Brown” I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister KateI Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate“, “Tangerine”, “Ramona”, Put The Blame On Mame, Mary Had A Little Lamb, Minnie The Moocher, Mary Is a Grand Old Name, Rose Of Washington Square.

Bette Midler also performed a medley with Elton John and Flip Wilson. The medley included songs like Mockingbird,” “Proud Mary,” Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” and Never Can Say Goodbye.”
